2014 Testimonial from Dovey Coe Author: Frances O’Roark Dowell

  • “Mr. Artis is one of those magic teachers. Did you every have a magic teacher growing up? If you’re a teacher or librarian, I bet you did. The magic teacher is one who made learning fun, but who also pushed you to work harder and think harder. The magic teacher is the one who made you realize you were smarter than you ever knew. Smarter, maybe, than your test scores would lead you to believe.”

  • “Because of Mr. Artis, the sixth graders of South View Middle School have their own signed copy of the visiting author’s book. Because of Mr. Artis, these kids know that books are special and important. Because of Mr. Artis, these kids are readers and some will be writers.”

  • “Mr. Artis is a magic teacher. Every kid should be lucky enough to have one.”
